ARTISTS’ TALKS and RECEPTION
The evening event was an intimate retrospective of well respected Canadian artist, Gordon Smith, a long-time West Vancouver resident. He was joined by two distinguished Canadian artists, from two other generations. The sold-out event drew inter generational audience to hear the panel speakers share their relationship as friends and art professionals. Gordon brought many never been shown in public personal photographs while he reminisced treasured moments.
Michelle Kim, a guest contributor on Miss604 blog described the evening as: “Though these three artists are from different eras and often work different mediums, there were moments where the boundaries of generation and art forms collapsed. At one point, Smith spoke of how his painting really changed with the advent of digital cameras—which he uses often to take pictures and paints from by looking at them.”
On top of that, the audience was surrounded by the works of the three speaking artists as well other international renown artists including Sonny Assu, Joan Balzar, B.C. Binning, Pierre Coupey, Attila Richard Lukacs, Jack Shadbolt, Sylvia Tait and Lawrence Paul Yuxweluptun.
