Ocean’s Poem: Mini Art Journal Workshop

August 10 (Saturday)
3:00pm - 5:30pm

Cost: $10 material fee

Presenter: Melanie Rivers

Pre-register at 604-925-7270 (course #63226) or register online. Limited to 15 participants.

Create your own ocean inspired mini art journal inspired by the colours of the ocean! Melanie Rivers will lead participants in creating a beautiful, watery background using acrylic inks. This background will be transformed into a mini journal that can be used to capture stories and inspiration from the ocean or as a place to write about your life. Melanie will lead participants in writing a short ocean inspired poem that can be added to the journal. No art or writing experience is needed. Melanie creates a safe and welcoming learning environment.

Melanie Rivers is an Indigenous mixed media artist and teacher from the Squamish First Nation. She teaches online art classes to women around the world helping them build joyful and self-compassionate art practices. Melanie says, “Creating art brings me into the present moment, into stillness. In this space, I am not dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. In stillness, I find myself. I find peace, clarity and connection with my real emotions”. She lives in her community with her wonderful husband of 18 years (and their sweet cat) and draws from her traditional ancestry and teachings in her art practice.
